Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is required for all league participants, including players, coaches, managers, sponsors, parents and spectators. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
Responsibilities of Parents
A. Ralph Waldo Emerson said "Your actions are speaking so loud, I can't hear a word you are saying." First and foremost, all parents must provide children and youth participating in OBYBSA with good examples of good sportsmanship and helpful, friendly attitudes.
B. Baseball and softball are games. It is designed to furnish healthy, constructive recreation by involving other members of a player's family as spectators. Everyone will enjoy the game if parents and spectators refrain from engaging in disputes. Allow all participants to play the game, coach the game, and officiate the game without negative remarks and/or attitudes.
C. Please support your child's team. Transportation must be provided to and from practices and games. Do not ask managers and/or coaches to furnish transportation. These individuals are donating many hours of time and most of their schedules do not allow additional time for transporting team members from varios parts of the city. Encourage your child to participate in all team activities. Your child should attend all practices, games, team meetings, and fund raising events. These Coaches and Assistant Coaches take lots of time out of there personal lives and schedules to make sure these kids get adequate practice time on the fields and to work with each and every one of them as they see fit to further there knowledge and enjoyment of the game. Please don't be disrespectfull to these Coaches by not showing up for these practices, They're doing this to help YOUR children. It is imperative that you contact either the manager or coach PRIOR to the event if a player is unable to attend that event for any reason.
D. Never harass, confront or antagonize coaches, players, board members, umpires or other officials.
E. Never hesitate to call the manager or coach if you or your child has any problem. All board members and team coaches want every child to enjoy their involvement in youth baseball and softball. Accordingly, any and all problems should be immediately addressed and resolved between the parent and the league.
F. It is imperative that you notify the head coach of any medical condition of your child.
G. Advise your coach if your child will be out of town or will miss any scheduled activity.
H. Enjoy the game of baseball and softball as played by your child's team.
